"Scientia est potentia... potentia ad populus!"
-- Knowledge is power... power to the people!
Well, the Latin may be broken, but the message should be clear.
Our government was created by the people, for the people, and
Americans have a civic responsibility to be informed about what
is going on in our government.
Today, most Americans get their information about the government
through the media: TV news, newspapers, magazines, internet web
sites, etc. Many also learn from talking to friends, coworkers,
and family members. While these sources vary in accuracy, they
share a certain amount of bias which can affect our opinions without
our conscious knowledge. Bias aside, there are also many sources
famous for deliberately misleading people.
This web site endeavors to remove bias and falsehood from the
news and get the facts straight from the source. You will find:
- Documents from government web sites, such as court decisions,
laws, and executive orders.
- A link to the same document on the government web site, so
you can judge for yourself that it is authentic and unaltered.
- The reason why I posted it; usually "I saw it on the
news," "I was just curious," or a request from
a reader.
So I say, read for yourself and get the facts straight. And if
the government is lying to us, at least read and get the official
lie. Requests are gladly honored!
